Adam Jones - Music Genres

Rhythm and Blues (RnB):
The music genre I have chosen for my music video is Rhythm and Blues (RnB). The reason I have chose RnB as my music genre is because of the fact that it is the genre of music which I listen to on a regular basis. The main reason why I like RnB music so much is because there are many kinds of RnB music, I feel as though there are mini-genres within the genre of RnB. An example of this is that one RnB song could feature an upbeat tempo with rapping and lyrics based around money, whereas other RnB tracks would be slow and lyrics based on love.
There are many generic conventions for an RnB music video. One generic convention related to an RnB music video is money and/or expensive things. The reason for this is that the artist of an RnB song generally likes the audience to believe he/her is a wealthy person. Wealth is usually represented in an RnB video via expensive clothing/jewellery, expensive cars, big houses and to be located in a sunny and pure environment.

Adam Jones - History of Music Videos

Ways Music Videos can be consumed:
• Youtube
• Google video
• TV
• MP4 players
• Mobile phones
• PlayStation 3 /XBOX
The media platforms in which people can gain access to music videos has increased over the last 20 years. The evidence of this is that 20 years ago music videos were only accessible through certain televised programs on one or two TV channels. Whereas now not only are there more ways in which to access music videos they are also more instant. Due to the fact that instead of having televised programs to show music videos there are now multiple TV channels dedicated to showing music videos. This has also resulted in making it easier to view certain music videos they want, due to the fact that most of the channels are dedicated to a certain genre or time period of music, for example “Clubland TV” is dedicated to club/dance music. This has therefore made watching music videos very easy and consumer friendly.
The introduction to the internet has also had a major impact on the way people consume music videos. The reason for this is that along with the internet came sites such as youtube and google video. These sites allow people to search for the artist and/or song of their choice and they will be able to select the music video for their chosen track from a large number of results. Another advantage of this is that the internet is also accessible via mobile phones and game consoles. This has resulted in music videos being accessible by people on the move, for example people commuting to work would be able to watch music videos to entertain them on their journey.
